In Chronovisor, writer-directors Jack Auen and Kevin Walker achieve something often considered impossible: they create a captivating audiovisual narrative based largely on written sources.

Although set in the near future, Charlotte Zhang’s Tycoon is less interested in imagining what lies ahead than in excavating the unresolved histories that continue to shape the present. The film is caught in a time warp, exemplifying how, with the evolution of audiovisual media, the past and the future increasingly coexist in the present.

Abe Callard’s Ghost Writer is a short film made completely using Google Maps Street View mode. We can see a dialectic between the “new” and the “old”, between its form and story, and then see the young director Abe’s gesture as an auteur in the era of new media.
